Immaculate Conception Of Little Dizzle (2010)
Once in a great while when I am scanning HBO and Showtime for a movie to watch, I stumble upon a film that is at least different from the horrendous direct to video or bloated Hollywood crapola usually found on these channels.
The Immaculate Conception Of Little Dizzle is one of those rare psychotronic gems, a story about a slacker cleaning crew who get hooked on some great tasting cookies left behind at one of the corporate buildings they clean.
Turns out the cookies make the males pregnant and they spawn these blue fish-like creatures, hence the title.
This movie is every bit a strange as the plot, but it’s not just some drug addled jerk’s attempt at being trippy…the film is very well done with good acting, good script and very well incorporated animations mixed with the live action throughout which give Little Dizzle it’s distinct, freakish appeal.

I saw this independent horror – drama produced by Brain Damage Films a few months back and I was pleasantly surprised.
Brain Damage has put out some pretty crappy films from time to time but Deadfall Trail features a solid script, good acting and a unique way of presenting hallucinogenic trip sequences which really worked very well.
Basically the story is about three male friends who take a survival trip into the forest with the goal being a peyote fueled vision quest.
It doesn’t take long before things start going very badly…

Devil Doll Classic 60′s Horror

Finally on VOD comes a classic 60′s low budget horror film called Devil Doll.
I remember this one scaring the crap out of me as a kid, and for good reason. The idea of ventriloquist dummies coming to life has always been a successful sub-genre of horror and has been used very well in The original Twilight Zone and as recently as the 2007 release Black Devil Doll (He’s A Motherfuckin’ Puppet!) .
In Devil Doll Hugo the dummy is already unnerving, but when he gets out of his cage to kill he becomes “a creature born from your darkest nightmares!”

On Amazon’s instant video available for 7 day rental or purchase (direct download) is Cut Up, the first feature I made with Jeff Turick in the 90′s in New Orleans, La. Cut Up tells the story of a homicide photographer involved in the case of the “Patchwork Killer,” a twisted murderer who cuts his victims up and sews their body parts back onto the torso in a random manner. The cops always find a “cut up” poem scrawled in the victim’s blood at the scene of the crime and desperately try to unravel the meanings before the killer can strike again.

Finally Amazon has created their Instant Video section where viewers can buy or rent movies with more ease than ever before, so it’s in this spirit that I am pleased to present the last feature film I made Night For Nixie which is available for rent and to own.
Night For Nixie is a surreal horror comedy which centers around a large mutant spider which escapes from Sanmento Genetics Research Laboratories. Soon after, a series of bizarre events plague a small coastal town…

Feast Box Set

I was very pleased to see they finally put all three of the Feast films in a box set, because this series deserves to be seen as one continuous stream.

That being said, the second film of the series is the weak link IMO. It’s not a bad film, but coming in after the amazing first Feast film, it doesn’t pack the punch or style the original has and comes off as another “factory sequel” to a popular movie.

But then there is the third film. If you love horror comedy with a nice dose of surreal elements you have to see Feast III – The Happy Finish. I still laugh when I think about some of the over the top scenes in this film and the end will have you both laughing and shaking your head in disbelief…sheer inspired genius.
